The fund provides scholarships for Belgian and foreign students studying at UNamur or on international mobility trips. It perpetuates the values of openness and solidarity carried by Professor Paul Wynants and his wife Olivia Sudan.

A fund in memory of Professor Paul Wynants

Paul Wynants (1954-2018) was successively student, assistant, researcher, professor, twice dean and UNamur's very first vice-rector for student affairs. Involved in numerous scientific, cultural and health associations, Paul Wynants' career was marked by a commitment to serving society and a constant concern for the well-being of all. These values are shared by his wife Olivia Sudan, also a teacher, who initiated the creation of the fund in 2020. Through this fund, UNamur is keen to share the Wynants' commitment for the benefit of generations of students.

Grants for Belgian and international students

Since 2020, the fund has financed 11 internship and study abroad scholarships for UNamur students, 5 emergency assistance scholarships for international students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree at UNamur, 4 mobility scholarships for international students wishing to carry out a research internship at UNamur and 6 Sud scholarships offering a student the opportunity to pursue a one-year master's degree in Namur. The Wynants-Sudan scholarships complement the aid granted annually by UNamur's Cellule sociale, thanks to the university's own funds and the support of other patrons such as the Fonds social Camille Joset de l'asbl CERUNA.
