As part of the Master's degree specializing in Digital Law, the Faculty of Law at the University of Namur is offering an innovative teaching project, much appreciated by both students and the start-ups that benefit from it, called "NAMUR LEGAL LAB".

A meeting point for students and young entrepreneurs

The NAMUR LEGAL LAB offers students in this specialized Master's program the opportunity to provide legal advice to young start-ups wishing to launch a new project in the new technologies sector. The legal advice given to start-ups is supervised by professionals. Students have the opportunity to share their thoughts with these professionals, gather their advice and have their legal reasoning validated.

Students aware of economic realities and the demands of the professional world

This type of partnership gives students the opportunity to anchor their learning of law in a reality made up of economic and commercial constraints. This strengthens students' skills by providing them with a better understanding of how the technology sector works and the expectations of its players.

Better-structured start-ups

The legal difficulties and obstacles faced by an entrepreneurial project are one of the main factors of failure encountered by start-ups. By seeking advice from NAMUR LEGAL LAB students, start-ups have the opportunity to better protect their project with regard to competition, guard against the violation of certain regulations applicable to their sector of activity, as well as integrate various legal approaches and constraints into their business model.

An unpaid service

The NAMUR LEGAL LAB is a non-profit project developed by the University of Namur with the aim of enhancing the training of its students, by helping to improve the framework for emerging players in the new technologies sector. Entrepreneurial projects followed by the NAMUR LEGAL LAB are therefore subject to prior selection based on pre-established criteria (financial capacity of the start-up, interest of the project for student learning, links with the ICT sector, ...).

.

Legal issues addressed

The legal issues dealt with by NAMUR LEGAL LAB students cover any legal question relating to the use of new technologies, and in particular questions of e-commerce law, privacy law, intellectual property law, media law, IT law, etc.
