As part of or in addition to classes, ELV teachers organize various extra-academic activities with the aim of offering students additional practice opportunities but also promoting the languages taught as well as their culture.

Immersion weekends

Twice each academic year, Patrick Foissac invites UNamur students to take part in an English immersion weekend at the Domaine d'Haugimont in Faulx-les-Tombes. The aim is to practice and improve English through fun activities, in an informal setting conducive to relaxation.

Conversation tables

Conversation tables organized by Patrick Foissac at Nom de la Rose offer an informal and welcoming space to practice English or Dutch. Each week, participants come together for hour-long sessions, promoting language learning in a relaxed environment. Meetings take place on Mondays from 7pm to 8pm for English and on Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm for Dutch. Open to all and free of charge, these sessions are the ideal opportunity to improve your language skills while meeting new people.

Speak Up

The aim of Speak Up is to strengthen students' speaking skills. This project enables students who wish to do so to practice their English in a different, fun and constructive context. Exchanging ideas about a book they've read, practicing public speaking or working on scenes from films or TV series - these are the activities the three modules offer.

Journey to London

The trip to London organized by Carole Zimmer with Master 2 Math students offers a learning experience via a project to open up to the English language and culture. From the preparation of the trip to the activities on site, everything is discussed, negotiated and experienced in English with the participants. The enthusiasm and motivation generated by this hands-on experience makes the tasks imposed before departure, as well as the writing of the final summary report on return, much more enjoyable and less restrictive for the students who spend this time together abroad.

Eten en spelen

Eten en spelen" is an activity offered to Bachelier students at the Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Management. Over lunchtime, students learn Dutch while playing! The aim is to have fun while learning. These game sessions are led by a teacher, during certain lunchtimes.
