The Pluri-LL research focuses on both intralinguistic and extralinguistic elements in plurilingual contexts, mainly in Europe and occasionally in other plurilingual contexts around the world (North America, emerging or developing countries).

At present, Pluri-LL's research is organized around four poles:

• language policy and planning primarily among indigenous linguistic minorities in Europe;
• multilingualism and intergroup relations;
• the question of translation as a zone of interaction between languages and cultures.

With the last pole, Pluri-LL aims to build a bridge between the linguistic study of plurilingualism and the literary studies of translatology approach to this phenomenon.

Also, the two 'L's refer to the dual linguistic and literary approach to plurilingualism.
