Leerresultaten

To familiarize students with the wealth of chemical behavior of mono- and polyfunctional organic molecules through the study of reaction mechanisms and stereochemistry. The ubiquity of organic chemistry in everyday life is emphasized by many connections with the biological and technological achievements. The cours is given in French.

Inhoud

Initially, the course focuses on the detailed description of the reactivity of basic functions with emphasis on processing and the interconversion of functional groups. At this level, attention is drawn to the relative nature of the fundamental properties: nucleophilic, electrophilic, acid, base, in the sense that, often, a functional group may change their behavior according to the reagent into his presence. In the study of the stereochemistry of reactions, different spacial representation (perspective, Newman projection, Fischer projection) are used alternately and / or simultaneously, in order to accustom students to the equivalence of these representations. Then, the problem of the presence of several functional groups in one molecule is addressed in particular by an introductory study of some classes of compounds with complex structures such as carbohydrates, hetero-cyclic compounds and terpenes.
