The integration of pharmaceutical disciplines in the expert analysis of a drug prescription requires completion of the entire Master's course in pharmaceutical sciences, including the compulsory internships in a pharmacy. The prerequisites for this course are therefore very broad and it is not possible to take this teaching unit without validating the pharmacology/therapy or galenic pharmacy courses. Completion of at least 4 months of the compulsory pharmacy internship is also a prerequisite.

Inhoud

This teaching unit, which closes the academic training of pharmacists, invites students to integrate all their knowledge of the diversity of pharmaceutical sciences when faced with a question of responsible dispensing of a medicine. It consists of a certification exercise in which the student is required to analyse a medical prescription for a given patient. The student is required to analyse this prescription from the angles of chemistry, analysis, pathology, pharmacology, pharmacotherapy and galenics.

Evaluatiemethode

The examination is oral, with preparation time. This preparation enables students to structure their thoughts on the prescribed medicine and its responsible delivery to a patient. During the examination, the student must demonstrate mastery of the disciplines related to pharmaceutical sciences, in particular physiology, pathology, pharmacology (pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacotherapy), medicinal chemistry, analysis, medical biochemistry, galenics and legislation/deontology. During individual preparation for the exam, students have access to all documentary sources relating to pharmaceutical sciences.

The assessment group is made up of a number of teachers who are experts in the pharmaceutical sciences. This group may also include a practising dispensing pharmacist and/or a pharmacist from an expert company.
