The course "Communication and Digital Identity" is a continuation of other courses in Information and Communication Sciences at UNamur such as "EPICB142-Communication and Media Culture", "EPICB143- Interactive and Participatory Media". This course provides an overview and critical perspective of the pragmatic theories of communication and then addresses the issues of identity and digital identity. The objective of the course is to enable students to use pragmatic theories of communication, some classical theories of identity and theories of digital identity in order to develop a critical perspective and analysis on concrete and current communication cases and situations.

Specific skills : • Know and understand the course material • Develop critical thinking about issues related to digital identities • Mobilise the concepts and theories seen in the course, in a relevant way • To develop a reflection on current digital practices: • Be critical and self-critical • Exploring a problem based on concrete cases and scientific articles • Choose concrete cases for their relevance and originality and analyse them using the theories seen in the course • Present a question and generate discussion • Structuring an argument

Inhoud

The course presents the main theories of the relational approach to communication and identity and gives an overview of the theories concerning digital identity.

Evaluatiemethode

The evaluation is based on an examination and a personal work of appropriation and analysis. The examination is organised in January and the personal analysis work is due in June.
