At the end of the course, the student will be able to : • carry out a risk analysis for a chemical laboratory; • identify the risks associated with handling chemical reagents; • to take the necessary steps to limit the risks identified; • prepare solutions of different concentrations; • to handle the correct measuring instruments in a chemical laboratory; • to carry out qualitative and quantitative experiments (titration, etc.); • to adapt a procedure for secondary school students; - ...

Doelstellingen

The objectives of this course are to • to develop the experimental skills of future teachers; • to set up a chemistry laboratory for secondary school students with minimal risk • to manage a chemical laboratory

Inhoud

The scheme offers several training sessions spaced over time. The working environment will be a chemical laboratory. Participants will need to bring their own laboratory apron. Theme 1: Safety in the laboratory Introduction to laboratory safety through risk analysis and detection Theme 2: Management and use of chemical compounds Through several manipulations related to the 2nd and 3rd grade curriculum, the use of hazard pictograms, labelling, handling of chemical compounds, waste management, etc. will be discussed. Theme 3: Solution preparation techniques The preparation of solutions from solid or liquid solutes by dilution is an essential activity for good laboratory management. Different techniques will be proposed depending on the nature of the solution required. Theme 4: Handling techniques Using a Bunsen burner, measuring temperature or pH, calibrating a pH meter, filtering with a water tube, setting up a hydro distillation system, setting up an electrochemical cell, ... are all examples where good handling technique is important Theme 5: Analytical assays This theme will focus on titrations and will allow participants to consider the quantitative approach of a laboratory preparation. Theme 6: Test - manipulation of choice Each participant will have the opportunity to design, prepare and perform a laboratory of their choice. The subject and the operating procedure must be submitted 15 days before the date of the test

Evaluatiemethode

The assessment will take place at the end of the second term and will focus on the analysis of the portfolio associated with the manipulation carried out during theme 6
