Doelstellingen

The course aims to offer a general, critical and up-to-date view of archaeological research in Belgium and the surrounding regions. Through a series of themes, it approaches the Gallo-Roman period and then the Early Middle Ages in the diversity of archaeological remains known to date and with a marked attention for the principal research problems encountered by archaeologists.

Inhoud

The material is divided into two parts: the first part deals with the Gallo-Roman period, and the second with the medieval period (mainly the Merovingian period). The contents are then structured thematically (e.g. networks and movements, the countryside, towns and cities, rites and religion, death, etc.). Depending on the projects in progress, one or other field visit will also be organised, and students are asked to attend one of the days of the corresponding fnrs contact groups (Signa romana or Archaeologia Mediaevalis).

Evaluatiemethode
