Leerresultaten

Verify, on the basis of data acquired during field studies, the theoretical notions acquired in the general ecology course (Bac 2), with particular attention to the diversity of organisms populating various terrestrial and aquatic environments. To experiment with the acquisition of ecological data based on field sampling To identify the adaptations of organisms to their respective environments.

Inhoud

Three-day field course including: - learning the techniques for sampling organisms in lotic and lentic aquatic environments (macroinvertebrates and fish) - systematic identification of the organisms collected - observation of the adaptations of organisms to different environments (habitat, physico-chemistry of the water, etc.) - analysis of sampling data and study of different parameters of population dynamics on several fish species (growth, density and biomass, distribution of size and age classes) - visit to different types of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems

Evaluatiemethode

On the basis of the data collected during the course and the practical work carried out afterwards in the laboratory, the students, in groups of 4, draw up a detailed report according to precise instructions. The written report is evaluated and a score is given for the group. This rating is then adjusted according to an individual interview during which each student must be able to explain certain aspects of the report.
