Leerresultaten

This course, intended for students in the first year of study for a bachelor's degree in chemical sciences, consists of a description of the basic notions useful for all physicochemical phenomena. This part of the general physics course focuses on the mechanics of the material point and the solid. At the end of this course, the student should be able to - Express themselves in writing in correct scientific terms; - Use the formulae, laws and principles of electromagnetism appropriately to analyse and interpret a situation in everyday and/or professional life; - Handle orders of magnitude and units appropriately; - Explain and interpret natural/ everyday phenomena with physical science concepts;

This course, intended for students in the first year of study for a bachelor's degree in chemical sciences, consists of a description of the basic notions useful for all physicochemical phenomena. This part of the general physics course focuses on the mechanics of the material point and the solid. At the end of this course, the student should be able to - To be part of an ongoing process of training and reflection. - To develop a responsible, critical and reflective approach to professional practice; - Structure their thoughts, express themselves clearly in writing and orally using a precise and appropriate vocabulary and be able to argue their points; - Use appropriate techniques and tools to study and understand observable phenomena - Combine scientific reasoning and critical thinking with a systems approach

Inhoud

1. Mechanics of the material point. 2. Solid state mechanics. 3. Wave physics.

Evaluatiemethode

In November: formative evaluation via the online work and collaboration platform (webcampus). The examination is closed book. The subject matter covered by the assessment includes everything that will be covered in the course. The exam can also be taken in June and August if the student does not pass the exam in January. Students are required to attend the practical sessions. The mark for the practical sessions is 20% of the final mark. To obtain a final grade, the student must present all parts of the exam (course, TD and TP).
