This course will cover the basics of evolutionary theories. This will be applied to historical and contemporary taxa through lectures and in-class exercises.

This course will cover the major themes of evolutionary biology. This will include:
- The principles of natural selection
- Reconstructing phylogenies
- Mutation and genetic variation
- Migration, genetic drift, nonrandom mating
- Adaptation
- Sexual selection
- Evolution and human health
- Evolution and development
Students will be evaluated based on performance in written examinations, in-class exercises, and discussions.
