LEAP - Laboratoire de Physiologie Évolutive et Adaptative

Le Laboratoire de Physiologie Évolutive et Adaptative (LEAP) est dirigé par le Professeur Frédéric Silvestre.  C'est l'un des 4 laboratoires appartenant à l'Unité de Recherche en Biologie Environnementale et Évolutive (URBE) au sein du Département de biologie. Le LEAP est également membre de l'Institute of Life, Earth and Environment (ILEE).Les recherches relèvent de la physiologie intégrative, comparative et évolutive. Nous visons à étudier les impacts des changements environnementaux (pollution, température, salinité, etc.) sur les organismes aquatiques à différents niveaux : moléculaire, physiologique, phénotypique.

Equipe de recherche de Johan Yans

Dans le cadre de leurs activités de recherche autour des ressources minérales et de l'âge des fossiles, l'équipe de recherche de Johan Yans explore le monde à la recherche des plus beaux/riches gisements, en s’associant avec plusieurs universités et compagnies minières (Université Mohammed Premier d’Oujda, Geosciences-Rennes, Groupe Managem, etc.). Ils prennent part à des fouilles paléontologiques permettant de récolter des échantillons de sédiments qui seront datés par des méthodes isotopiques de pointe, en collaboration avec l’ISEM (Institut des Sciences de l’Evolution de Montpellier), le Museum d’Histoire Naturelle de Paris et l’Institut Royal des Sciences naturelles de Belgique.

Equipe de recherche de Max Collinet

Dans le cadre de leurs activités de recherche autour des magmas et des planètes, l'équipe de recherche de Max Collinet analyse des météorites et utilise des données issues de missions spatiales afin de comprendre comment les roches qui recouvrent les différentes planètes et astéroïdes du système solaire se sont formées et en quoi notre Terre est unique. Ils reproduisent les conditions de formation et de cristallisation des magmas en laboratoire et à l’aide d’outils de modélisation. Ils confrontent leurs résultats à ceux de géologues, chimistes et physiciens, tant belges qu'internationaux, afin de contraindre les processus de premier ordre qui définissent les caractéristiques principales des planètes, dont leur habitabilité.

Les thèmes abordés se focalisent essentiellement sur le métabolisme des polysaccharides à l’aide de techniques modernes, dont la transgenèse et les marqueurs moléculaires.

Explainable Software Engineering in the Public Sector The field of software engineering seeks to devise theories, methods, tools, and techniques that support the development, operation, and evolution of the digital infrastructure modern society relies on. While the software engineering capabilities have advanced substantially over the past decades, it remains challenging to deliver high quality systems in a timely and cost-effective manner. Government system in particular have a weak reputation in this respect.To better understand why, we analyze 125 complex software projects in the public sector in The Netherlands. The projects are described in public reports published by the Advisory Council on IT Assessments (AcICT), which advises the Dutch parliament and cabinet on riks and chances of success in complex Information Technology (IT) projects. The projects span a time period of 10 years, represent a total budget of over 14 billion Euros, and cover such areas as tax collection, social security, pensions, health, traffic control, defense, or water management.We study these reports through the lens of "explainability", focusing on supporting decision making. Furthermore, we reflect on current advances in software engineering, including modern software testing and large language models, in addressing current software engineering challenges.
