Since 2013, UNamur has embarked on the implementation of a Quality approach. This approach has undergone various overhauls since its inception and is gradually being fleshed out, notably through the implementation of a more global approach and thanks to the help of a multidisciplinary team.

Doctors Honoris Causa
The University of Namur awards honorary doctorates every year, alternating with one of its seven faculties. Each honored personality, through his or her career, meets the vision and values defended by the university.

Governance and bodies
Founded in 1831, the University of Namur has been a non-profit organization since 1948. At its head, the General Assembly is the sovereign power and works in close collaboration with the Board of Directors. The Rector's Council and the Academic Council represent the institution and oversee the day-to-day management of the seven faculties, in collaboration with the general services.

The Rector's Council
The Rector's Council brings the values of the institution to life on a daily basis. It proposes a strategic vision to the Board of Directors and the General Assembly, and translates it into policies and guidelines. It is made up of the Rector, the General Administrator and six Vice-Rectors.

The Academic Council
Chaired by the Rector, the Academic Council includes the deans of the institution's 7 faculties, the Vice-Rectors and the three student administrators of the General Assembly of Students (AGE).

Laurent Schumacher
Laurent Schumacher has been Professor of Telecommunications and Computer Networks at the Faculty of Computer Science since 2003. He has also served two terms as Faculty Vice-Dean, from 2012 to 2016 and from 2020 to the present. Since the Marcourt decree, Laurent Schumacher has also been involved in the development of IT tools for the administrative management of training courses.
