The aim of the University of Namur's sports project is to encourage students to develop and perfect their skills in one or more disciplines. More than twenty sports are organized from Monday to Friday on campus and in the surrounding area. A wide variety of sports are on offer. A fitness room is also available.
Suggested activities
The University offers 5 categories of activities: martial arts, dance and fitness, water sports, team sports, individual sports. All sports activities are presented in the brochure. The sports list is updated in mid-September of each academic year. A fitness room is also available to anyone with a UNamur sports card.
From the start of the academic year in September until the end of September, free access to the activities is offered in order to try out the different sports. Please note that some activities are reserved for UNamur students and staff only (these activities are notified with an asterisk in the brochure).
A fitness room at your disposal!
It's new since the beginning of March 2024: a fitness room has been set up on the 1st floor of the Sports Department (10, rue Godefroid). It is accessible to all UNamur members, on presentation of their sports card. Treadmills, bikes, dumbbells... there's something for everyone!
A new coach oversees the UNamur fitness room: Nicolas Martinez, a former UNamur student who has been practicing fitness since he was 16. Having taken anatomy and physiology courses at our university, and having undergone specific training, he can provide all the necessary advice to sportspeople.
What can you find in the UNamur fitness room?
- 3 treadmills
- 2 bicycles
- 2 rowing machines
- 1 multifunctions
- 1 "bodyweight" strength machine
- 4 adjustable benches (inclined or recumbent) for working with dumbbells or free weights
- 1 rack for doing squats (with bar and dumbbells)
- Small strength and stretching equipment
Soon, new machines will be added to the range: an elliptical bike and a rowing machine.
The fitness room can accommodate a maximum of 25 people. It's open Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm to 9pm with the coach, and Tuesdays during lunchtime from 12pm to 2pm (without coach). There is no advance booking system.

Sports policy
Sports practice is certainly a form of relaxation, but to be effective, it must take place in a rigorous context. It must encourage spontaneity, bodily development, mental and physical balance.
