Founded in 1831, the University of Namur has been a non-profit organization since 1948. At its head, the General Assembly is the sovereign power and works in close collaboration with the Board of Directors. The Rector's Council and the Academic Council represent the institution and oversee the day-to-day management of the seven faculties, in collaboration with the general services.

Annick Castiaux is the Rector.

In 2025, a new rectoral team, headed by Annick Castiaux, Rectrice, took office on the start of the academic year, September 15, for a 4-year term. The watchword of this new team is proximity.

The Univers2025 strategic plan

Univers 2025 provides a vision of the future, but is also, and above all, an iterative and participative process across the entire institution, defining priorities and outlining ambitions. It will evolve over time, in line with new needs and challenges. For 2025 and beyond.
