Univers 2029, the new strategic plan of the University of Namur, aims to guide the institution in the face of current challenges in the continuity of the Univers 2025 plan, thanks to 4 major levers:
Innovation, transversality, notoriety and financial sustainability
Objective? Strengthen its fundamental missions of teaching, research and service to society, while deeply respecting the human values that characterize UNamur.
Vision 2025-2029
UNamur pursues the major objectives of the "Univers 2025" strategic plan
- Develop the university, singularly defending UNamur's place in the university landscape and collectively with other universities, affirming the importance of teaching and research.
- Pursue the digital transformation, in particular by integrating AI responsibly and critically, in the service of missions and administrative simplification.
- Be a driving force for sustainable development in our training, research and practices.
- Strengtheninternationalization by training citizens of the world, creating solidarity in the face of totalitarian drift, and consolidating our European positioning, notably via the Universeh alliance.
- Guarantee the quality of life on campus: make the university a place for study and work, but also for conviviality and safety.
Three challenges guide the new "Univers 2029" strategic plan.
- Strengthen UNamur's positioning and visibility,
- Ensure its financial sustainability,
- Maintain a strong commitment from the university community.
The 4 levers of the Univers 2029 strategic plan
Innovation
UNamur wants to create a genuine culture of innovation by drawing on its human scale and experts, particularly in artificial intelligence. Objectives:
- encourage new ideas from all members,
- better manage projects and transitions,
- align innovation and strategy.
Cross-functionality
UNamur wants to break down the "silos" between entities. Issues:
- foster collaboration between disciplines,
- simplify and harmonize internal processes,
- reduce duplication and inefficiencies,
- support joint projects (services - Faculties - Institutes).
Notoriety
Much progress has already been made, but UNamur wants to go further:
- better publicize its projects and talents,
- strengthen internal communication to be able to better communicate to the outside,
- work collectively on visibility with the media, authorities, companies, academic networks,
- defend the role of universities in society (democracy, academic freedom, interdisciplinarity...).
Financial sustainability
Faced with falling public funding, UNamur wants to:
- optimize its management and pool certain activities,
- develop complementary sources of financing (continuing education, corporate services, sponsorship),
- preserve the quality of fundamental missions,
- finance major projects: innovation, real estate, sustainable transition, digital transformation.
Basing projects on values
The values inherited from the Jesuit tradition - excellence, freedom, openness, sustainability and the primacy of the human - remain the plan's compass.
Internal participatory workshops have helped define how to live these values on a daily basis in the institution.
