Financial assistance

For currently enrolled students, several forms of financial aid are available and may be granted based on specific criteria and individual circumstances to support their academic progress and success. The Student Services Office is also available to assist with administrative issues, budget management, family matters, relationship problems, adjusting to academic life and campus life, and more.

Prospective students may also contact our social workers for information.

Tuition fee reduction and/or loan

  • The reduction allows you to pay €374 or €485 instead of €835.
  • The loan allows you to pay the tuition fees of €374, €485, or €835 in installments (after deducting the €50 down payment).

Once you have reviewed the criteria, please fill out the following form, which applies to both the discount and the loan. Please note that there are two versions available for the 2025–2026 academic year: one for Belgian and equivalent students and one for European students.

Short-term loan

This loan provides financial assistance, an advance on the study grant from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, or any other scholarship.

The UNamur Scholarship

The amount of this scholarship takes into account the student’s budget and the family’s (or the student’s or their partner’s) expected financial contribution.

The Special "Exam" Allowance

The Social Services Office may grant a student who works regularly to cover some or all of their tuition costs a special “exam” allowance to enable them to focus more fully on their exam session (January and/or June).

The application form must be picked up at the Social Services Office between April 13 at the earliest and May 13 at the latest for the June exam session.

Financial Assistance for the Purchase of a Computer

This assistance covers part of the costs for students who have purchased a computer or who wish to purchase one (new or refurbished).

Other financial assistance

The following financial aid is available only to Belgian students and those with equivalent status.

The Internship and Study Abroad Loan

Intended for master’s or specialized master’s students undertaking an internship or study abroad program in Belgium or abroad. The 2025–2026 internship and study abroad loan application package will be available from the Student Services Office starting August 18.

The Supplementary Master’s Loan

Intended for students holding a university degree or equivalent who are pursuing a complementary master’s degree. The 2025-2026 complementary master’s loan application will be available from the Social Services Office starting September 16.

The Solidarity Grocery Store “La Solidarithèque”

La Solidarithèque is a solidarity grocery store whose goal is to support higher education students facing financial difficulties. It was created and is managed by the social services of UNamur, HEAJ, HEPN, HENALLUX, and IMEP in partnership with the Association for Student Solidarity in Belgium (ASEB).

Equipment Loan

If you're having problems with your computer equipment, you can borrow a laptop.

Reduction for serious social reasons

The exemption for serious social reasons allows students to reduce the scope of their annual study program (ASP), meaning they may create an ASP consisting of fewer than 60 credits based on a serious social circumstance that arose during the academic year.

The Social Services Office will process these requests from October 1, 2025, until the end of registration for the June exams, which is March 1, 2026.

The application form for a reduced course load due to serious social circumstances for the 2025–2026 academic year will be available from the Social Services Office starting September 16, 2025.
