Content

Medicinal Chemistry focuses on the design, synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of compounds derived from chemical synthesis. This multidisciplinary science aims at establishing drugs structure-activity relationships understanding of the relationship of chemical structure to biological activity, and to understand the mode of action of drugs. The main goals of this course are: to familiarize the student with the active components of the drugs, their chemical structures, their origin, their design, their evolution, their field of application, their international non-proprietary name and some commercial names. Some examples of synthesis are provided, the general physico-chemical properties reviewed. All the systematic part is introduced by the description of the traditional or innovative pharmacochimic steps leading to the design of the drug.
