End of cycle study on a subject related to art as a means of expressing different aspects of Egyptian and Mesopotamian culture. Students may propose their own research topic. A number of subjects are offered to students.
The objective of the TFC in Egyptology is threefold:
- research ofprimary sources.
- research ofsecondary sources and bibliography..
- provide an state of the art on a given topic.
Great importance is given to the research of sources. During the first part of the course, Egyptological resources will be explored in order to familiarise students with the tools at their disposal. These should enable students to first find primary sources and then the bibliography for their subject.
Students must be able to go beyond superficial bibliographic research and find their main topic in works that are not immediately related to their subject. They must demonstrate knowledge of important journals and series in Egyptology. Students may choose their own bibliographic reference format as long as they remain consistent throughout their work.
Students must present an overview of their subject. They will review the various theories put forward by researchers. By comparing them, they will demonstrate a critical approach.
A first draft must be submitted on Friday, 19 December. It must contain
- a very advanced list of primary sources,
- a first draft of the bibliography on the subject, separate from the one used for the catalogue of primary sources.
- a first chapter highlighting the issues surrounding the research topic.
The final version must be submitted on 17 May in the second session and on 15 August in the third session 2025-2026.
Versions must be in PDF format and sent to the professor's email address.
In addition to the content of the work, the assessment will take into account the extent of the bibliographical research and the importance of the catalogue (depending on the subject). The format of the bibliography, the quality of the illustrations and the quality of the language (spelling) will also be taken into account. The final version will also include a description of the AI tools the student used and for what purpose.
