NeWWS: a new website dedicated to teaching and learning Dutch

The creation of this platform marks a new stage in the promotion and learning of Dutch in Wallonia.

NeWWS officially went online this Thursday, October 9, 2025. The platform is designed to bring together the worlds of education and employment in Wallonia and Flanders. It brings together a wide variety of free, reliable and accessible educational resources for everyone, so as to improve the learning, teaching and use of Dutch.

NeWWS offers:

• ready-to-use activities and sequences
• a rigorous selection of varied, reliable resources
• clearly classified by age, language level, skills and themes

Designed as a practical, evolving tool, the site aims to (re)give a taste for Dutch through motivating, interactive activities.

NeWWS is a partnership project within the "Carrefour des Langues - Wallonie" synergy cluster.

At UNamur, it was the Language Center that was called upon in the development of NeWWS, with the involvement of Christelle Hoorelbeke, Marc Miceli and Sophie Naveau. The mission of the Language Center (formerly the Ecole des Langues Vivantes - ELV) is to provide foreign language training for members of the university community, in partnership with each faculty. Its aim is to offer local, high-quality teaching that meets the academic and professional needs of learners.

Offering an active and ambitious pedagogy is a priority for the teachers. Drawing on their experience in various fields related to education, they design innovative teaching projects through stimulating and meaningful activities.
