About

Biography

Marc Nihoul holds a law degree with great distinction from UCLouvain and an Erasmus degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is the first doctor of legal science at UNamur.
He devoted his doctoral thesis to administrative science and the use of force by the administration in particular, the commercial version of which was published by La Charte in 2001 under the title ‘Les privilèges du préalable et de l'exécution d'office en droit administratif belge : pour une relecture civile et judiciaire à la lumière du droit commun de l'exécution’ (796 p.) and the guiding principle of the subjection of authority to ordinary law, now expressly enshrined in the new Civil Code.

His professional activity is entirely devoted to serving the public through public law and to serving his colleagues and students, of whom he has been in turn vice-dean (2009-2013) and dean (2015-2023) until now.
