Description
The course programme is structured around a module of initiation, from which certain students may be exempted, and four other modules of specialisation :
- Organisation and innovation : innovation theories and strategies in ICT, organisation and change management, negotiation and conflict analysis ;
- Business analysis : engineering of demands, organisational modeling and expertise : languages and methods : project management and risk management ;
- IT governance : IT strategies and quality of service, business intelligence, ICT law :
- Designing and implementation of business models and innovation : seminar, project and dissertation
In order to ensure the suitability of this master’s degree programme to the needs of industry and firms, the committee guaranteeing the quality of the programme includes firms and associations which are truly representative of the Information and Communication Technology Sector (AG Real Estate, Trasys Group, Microsoft, Axa, IBM, Agoria, HEC Lausanne).
Teaching methods
The training is aimed for adults with university degrees who already work in a field related to IT (Information and Communication Technology). The teaching approach has been adapted accordingly :
- The teaching approach builds on the students’ experience in order to be effective and meaningful.
- The teaching emphasises the analysiss of real-life situations from the professional world, and focuses on exchanges between students and teachers, assessment of theoretical principals through personal questioning, discussion of books and articles
- A certain number of courses are also available on line.
The main objective is to allow students to acquire new skills built on those they have already developed.
Terms and conditions of organisation
The courses are concentrated in a two day per week timetable, Fridays and Saturdays on a six-hour basis (from 9 am to 12 am and from 1 pm to 4 pm), but there is a possibility of spreading out the training to a two year programme and choosing to attend courses only one day per week, Friday or Saturday (all courses taught on Friday for the « t » year are given on Saturday for the year « t+1 » and vice versa.)
This programme gives the right to the « congé-education payé » congé-éducation payé (a paid leave for educational purposes), to workers who enrol on a basis of regular attendance and who follow the spread-out two year option for Saturdays. The conditions are established by the law of January 22 1985 and its implementations. Workers who meet the required conditions receive paid leave to follow this training…
Aims and objectives
This additional Master’s degree in Computer Science Specialisation and Innovation allows students to acquire :
- skills in Business Analysis, in other words, skills in analysis and modeling, crucial in the elaboration of innovative Information Projects aiming to match the strategies of each particular firm
- skills in IT governance, in other words the ability to define and implement an IT strategy in all its complexity, whether it be from a technological, organisational, commercial or financial point of view.
This master’s degree clearly meets the needs of industry and is adapted to a professionally active audience, not only in terms of the teaching approach but also in practical terms, particularly regarding timetables.
Teaching profile
At the end of their training, students having completed an additional Master’s degree in Computer Science Specialisation and Innovation will be capable of :
- Designing and elaborating models that meet the needs of industry, taking into account various judicial aspects, allowing for the introduction of TIC innovation into the market
- Establishing models for the various aspects of organisations (strategy, process, information...) and implementing Business Intelligence tools that are suitable to each particular organisation.
- Developing an IT strategy and ensuring the quality of the services made available.
- Implementing effective and suitable strategies regarding project management, change management and risk and conflict management.
- Communicating effectively, orally and in written form, adapting the language to the target audience.
