This collection of antiquarian books was entrusted to the UNamur library by the King Baudouin Foundation. It brings together over 670 editions from the presses of the great Renaissance printer Christophe Plantin (1520-1589).
An exceptional collection assembled by Philippe de Dorlodot
This collection of 670 works is exceptional in several respects: for the completeness of the fields covered, for the number of volumes, for their particularly remarkable state of preservation, and for the presence of several copies that are extremely rare today. The whole bears witness to the passion, patience and generosity of bibliophile Philippe de Dorlodot, whose father was a professor at the Faculties of Namur.
Conservation and enhancement at BUMP
To be entrusted with such a heritage is a tribute to the expertise developed by UNamur's Moretus Plantin University Library in the conservation and scientific and cultural promotion of books. Several volumes from the collection were presented to the public as part of an online exhibition dedicated to Christophe Plantin. The collection has been the subject of a published catalog and is promoted on the Neptun digital portal.
