Goals

Through various examples, this course aims at addressing some chemical reactions underlying bacterial physiology under normal and stressful conditions with a major focus on oxidative stress and metal homeostasis.

Content

The content of the course may vary from time to time depending on the invited speakers and the selected papers but the course will be mainly focussing on oxidative stress and metal homeostasis

Teaching methods

The course will be organized around lectures by the Professor and by invited speakers. Each student will also be asked to summarize and criticize a research paper that he/she will select among proposed papers.

Assessment method

The evaluation will consist in a 20 minutes face-to-face discussion with the Professor around an open question that will be picked by the students. The questions will be related to the course content. The grade will be modulated from -2 to +2 based on the paper presentation and on the active participation to the other paper presentations during the semester.
