The aim of the course is to develop your oral and written communication skills in your field of specialisation, based on grammar (at level B1) and vocabulary specific to your field.
Given the differences in levels of knowledge and ability in Dutch, differentiated teaching is organised.
The Dutch 2 course has several objectives:
- to review grammar at level B1;
- to develop mastery of vocabulary specific to your field of study;
- to demonstrate mastery of grammar and vocabulary in the various skills at the desired level: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression, oral expression (with or without interaction);
- develop critical and argumentative thinking;
- develop your autonomy in learning (in general, and in learning Dutch in particular);
- develop certain transferable skills: stress management, communication, deadline management, etc.
This course aims to achieve proficiency at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in all skills.
• Course materials (texts and videos) will be available online on Webcampus.
The course will be based on the principle of the flipped classroom: students prepare materials (texts, videos). During the course, the focus will be on oral expression (based on the preparation). Particular attention will be paid to learning strategies, in particular through the use of authentic documents.
Preparation will therefore focus on receptive skills, while the course will focus on productive skills.
Classes will be held once a week for one hour. Students who have taken the diagnostic test will be placed in a group of around 30 students, according to their level.
• The four skills will be worked on: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and oral expression.
• During the year, four tests will be organised to assess mastery of the following elements: grammar, vocabulary and oral expression.
• Assessment will take place outside of exam sessions, during the last classes of each term.
• In order to develop their independence in learning, students will be required to keep a learning journal. This must be submitted at the end of the year.
• Any part not submitted or any unjustified absence from part of the assessment will result in a mark of 1/20 for the entire course.
• For the August session, if the overall average for the course is less than 10/20, each student will retake the parts for which they did not obtain 10/20.
• Distribution of points:
o 15% December vocabulary test
o 15% December grammar test
o 15% December oral exam
o 15% April vocabulary test
o 15% May grammar test
o 15% May oral exam
o 10% logbook
Course materials (texts and videos) will be available online on Webcampus.
