Learning outcomes

The student will have acquired a receptive knowledge of everyday Dutch. More specifically, he/she will be able to :

• understand texts on contemporary issues and instructions with a high degree of independence in a detailed and accurate manner;

• understand what a short, simple legal document (statement, official report, accident report) written in Dutch is about and identify the key elements;

• understand the main points of a short oral message (short videos) on contemporary issues in clear, standard language.

Goals

  • Introduction to the usual structures and vocabulary of the language through the comprehension of written texts (level B1+) and short videos of a non-specialised nature (level B1)
  • Extension of receptive vocabulary in order to enable the student to start the Dutch legal terminology course (DRHDB240).
