Learning outcomes

The course aims to introduce students to trade policy and the institutions governing the World Trade System. We analyze the role of governments in international trade, the political economy of trade policy, the WTO, and the regional trade agreements, and some of the key issues in the current debate of trade policy in academia and among policy-makers. 

Goals

This course will allow the students to assess a country's trade policy and propose their own perspective on future developments in trade policy and international trade relations.

Assessment method

The exam will be organized as follows: 1. 10% of the grade: group presentation in the seminar sessions 1 or 2. 2. 40% of the grade: country report. A team of students should redact a country report in a format similar to a policy briefing. 3. 50%: written exam. In the written exam, the students will receive questions on the class material (including the seminars). Retake exam: This course follows a continuous learning approach. For this reason, students will be able to retake only the written exam in the second session, accounting for 50% of the final grade.
