Learning outcomes

This course aims to provide the economic understanding and managerial tools for managing an entity (or a group of entities) in the non-profit sector: hospitals, nursing homes, educational institutions, universities, administrations, etc.

Content

The first part aims to draw from economic theory the essential lessons for understanding the environment and the logic of decision making in these services. On this basis, the managerial challenge can be better understood. Next, the contributions of the modern managerial approach are explored, illustrated by numerous examples. In addition to the overall logic of the approach, cost management and budgetary management, the application of marketing techniques, efficiency and quality management are addressed. The course combines concepts, methods and concrete applications.

Assessment method

The examination will focus exclusively on the subjects taught orally. It will be written. It will cover three aspects: • Knowledge and understanding of concepts, strategies, tools and methods. • The ability to analyse and synthesise a concrete case seen in the course. • The ability to make strategic and operational recommendations.
