Creating links, building bridges to Germanic culture with rigor and passion: this was the major objective of the "Founding Fathers", Professors Martien J.G. de Jong, Michel Hanot and Léo Somers, who created the Germanic section in September 1961. A lot has changed since then, in academia as in the world at large, but no matter where our lives take us, we always retain this part of our Namur and German identity: "I'm from Namur", "Were you at the Facs too?", "Ah, we miss the 5th floor!"On this webpage, we'd like to share with our alumni a few tributes to our founding fathers and their successors. Success for the interfaith and interdisciplinary colloquium organised by the University Chair Our Lady of Peace and the eponymous research centre, in collaboration with the Abbey of Maredsous.

A delegation from the Université de Namur took part in an exploratory mission to the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. The aim: to discover the research carried out in the field, meet UCAD researchers and initiate future collaborations between the two institutions.

The F.R.S.-FNRS published on June 25, 2024, the list of winners of the various doctoral and postdoctoral mandates. Among them, 16 researchers from the University of Namur have obtained funding.

On July 1, 2025, the F.R.S.-FNRS published the list of winners of the various doctoral and postdoctoral mandates, Télévie projects and co-financing with the Fonds de recherche du Québec. Among these, many UNamur researchers were awarded funding. UNamur's particularly high ranking rate demonstrates the quality and excellence of research on the Namur campus.

What? BENEVOL on Thursday and Friday, November 21 and 22: the congress will bring together researchers working in software engineering, evolution, and maintenance. This year, we will have two keynotes: one by Prof. Andy Zaidman from TU Delft and one by Prof. Sonia Haiduc from Florida State University. On January 23 and 24, 2025, UNamur experts were present at the SETT (School Education Transformation Technology) trade show for its sixth edition. A must-attend event for digital education in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, dedicated to principals, teachers and technical-pedagogical advisors.

The 11th edition of the Ma Thèse en 180 secondes competition was held this Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Faculty of Science. Three biologists will represent UNamur at the Belgian final, to be held in Mons on May 21.
