The Faculty of Science demonstrates cutting-edge, rich, dynamic and interdisciplinary research developed through the research units and laboratories of the various departments.

In the sciences, the international dimension is essential! It's possible to explore beyond the borders of the Université de Namur to do an internship or take a course, or to work in a laboratory at another university in the country. The institution has established cooperation agreements with other universities and initiated numerous international research projects that encourage exchanges and researcher mobility.

The Faculty of Science has more than 400 members who are involved, each year, in the scientific academic career of 1500 students.

The Biology Department strives to understand the living world in all its diversity, in the course of its evolution, from molecules to ecosystems, and to respond to complex societal problems such as biodiversity loss, infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, etc. Biologists use an approach that integrates the laboratory, the field and computer tools.

Chemistry is par excellence the science of transforming matter, and as such lies at the crossroads between the physical sciences and mathematics on the one hand, and the life sciences, earth sciences and materials sciences on the other. State-of-the-art laboratories, led by world-renowned researchers, are dedicated to a wide range of fields, from organic chemistry to materials chemistry, analytical chemistry and theoretical chemistry.

Geography is concerned with the interactions between man and the environment, and the processes that influence these interactions, such as urbanization, agriculture, mobility, trade, globalization and climate change. A science of action, geography offers a framework for reflection and tools to guide decision-makers towards sustainable solutions, thus promoting the harmonious development of societies and the preservation of the environment.

Mathematics is an indispensable tool for understanding and solving many of the problems of everyday life, it forms the formal language for many disciplines and defines a science, with its methods and laws, to which genuine research is associated. The Mathematics Department has sought to reconcile these aspects by specializing in applied mathematics since its inception, in both teaching and research.
