General practice is a clinical specialty oriented towards primary care, with its own distinctive features: a varied activity embracing all fields of medicine, a comprehensive and longitudinal approach, focused on the individual at any age, and intervening at an early and undifferentiated stage in the development of disease. General practitioners are the central players in their patients' health, establishing a lasting and privileged relationship of trust with them.

The 11th edition of the Ma Thèse en 180 secondes competition was held this Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Faculty of Science. Three biologists will represent UNamur at the Belgian final, to be held in Mons on May 21.

The Covid-19 pandemic is a human tragedy that has caused millions of deaths worldwide and put our entire society under great strain. But it has also been a tremendous collective moment for many UNamur scientists, whose research continues in an attempt to better understand this disease and its consequences.

For several years now, researchers have been striving to make their laboratories "greener". A series of actions have been implemented, funded by the CaNDLE 2023 call for projects have been supported by the Department of Biology at the initiative of Alison Forrester and Frédéric Silvestre, the project leaders, as well as by Campus Infrastructure Management Services (SIGeC) and Prevention Services (SerP). In March 2025, a Green Day was held to provide information on the project's progress, and to motivate people to join the initiative.  

As part of the English course of the Bachelor in Science and Medicine, students are introduced to the oral popularisation of scientific concepts. This year, these future biologists, chemists, geologists/geographers or pharmacists expressed themselves in the form of videos inspired by the famous French science popularisation programme, "C'est pas sorcier". A competition to choose the best video has been launched as part of the Printemps des sciences.

The fight against disease is both a science and an art. Knowledge of human beings, pathologies and medicines is the key to fighting disease. But the essence of the medical art is practiced in contact with patients, who are looking for a doctor who is rigorous, with solid knowledge and sound reasoning, but who is also deeply warm and human.

What if our students became agents of change? That's the ambition launched by a team of motivated teachers in the Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Management. For five months, students will be challenged to propose a social innovation linked to one of the 17 sustainable development goals.

On March 4 and 5, UNamur hosted the launch event for the European ERAMET project. Led by Professor Flora Musuamba Tshinanu, this collaborative project brings together 17 European partners. Floriane Goosse, a PhD student at the University of Namur, within the NaDI-CeRCLe research center, has received the prestigious "Best Research Paper Award" for her thesis paper conducted in collaboration with Wafa Hammedi, professor in the Department of Management at UNamur, and Dominik Mahr, from Maastricht University.

These are the questions that Michel Ajzen, a specialist in organizational management, is tackling as part of his teaching assignments in the Department of Management Sciences at UNamur. His research focuses on hybrid work and organizational innovation, with a transdisciplinary approach aimed at reinventing managerial practices to meet contemporary challenges.
