The workshop provides a forum for the discussion of new research directions and applications in Artificial Life, Evolutionary Computation and in related fields, where different disciplines and research areas could effectively meet. It was first held in 2007 in Sampieri (Ragusa), as the incorporation of two separate workshops (WIVA and GSICE).

This June 28, 2024, the first twenty-two students of the Certificat interuniversitaire en Langue des Signes de Belgique Francophone (LSFB) et français, are proclaimed at UNamur. This is the first training course in French-speaking Belgium to be entirely designed in sign language for the deaf. It represents a significant step forward in inclusive education and the linguistic and social inclusion of deaf and hard-of-hearing people. It also highlights the strengths of deaf professionals in these fields.

The colloquium will be held on Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the University of Namur (Belgium). Very often in nature, we observe phenomena of natural synchronisation and the emergence of regular patterns: a crowd applauding in unison at the end of a concert, the cells in the walls of the heart pulsating in a coordinated fashion, black and white stripes on a zebra, brown spots surrounded by black in leopards... But how can we explain this uniformity if there is no global controller or explicit rule directing this coordination?

BepiColombo will fly past Mercury on 19 June 2023. It will pass close to the planet's surface at an altitude of approximately 236 km. BepiColombo is an ESA/JAXA mission involving a team of researchers from the University of Namur (naXys institute).

Modelling the Universe to understand how it came into being, how it works and how the physical objects that make it up work - that's the day-to-day work of the researchers in the naXys SPACE cluster. It's a subject that fascinates not only scientists. An international conference on "Complex Planetary Systems (CPSII)" is being organised at UNamur from 3 to 7 July 2023, with activities open to the public, including two round tables, a show at the Delta and a Space Quiz!

Instantly obtain a translation in sign language (LSFB) of a word written in French: that's what MOSI (Du mot au signe) makes possible. This new tool is the fruit of a collaboration between the University of Namur, the asbl École et Surdité and the asbl LSFB, supported by the King Baudouin Foundation.

Professor Elio Tuci has just been awarded Research Credit funding from the FNRS. The naXys institute specializes in the analysis of complex systems, whether in astronomy and dynamic cosmology, mathematical biology, optimization in optics, economic complexity or the study of the stability and robustness of these systems. The institute is structured around 6 research axes: Space, Bio, Optics, Eco, Robust and Robotics.

Turning to authorized and unauthorized investments of public space, performances, uses of ephemeral supports and other departures from the framework, various interventions will question the stakes of forms of writing deployed outside the book and their effects on representations of poetic practice.Today's theme: Poetry in the streetThe acclimatization of poetry to advertising communication has contributed to reinforcing its urban inscription, so that today it frequently appears on the walls of our cities, often through fragmentary quotations and isolated verses. These writings are sometimes the result of commissions and are therefore perfectly authorized, but they can also be the product of wild production: what are the preferred forms in such cases, and how can they be archived? From the enunciation of these urban poems to their revival on social networks, this first session of the OLSa seminar will be an opportunity to examine the modes of emergence, circulation and conservation of wild literatures. Statistics usually focus on anticipating events that fall within the norm. But what about rare events? They are dealt with by a branch of mathematics called extreme value theory, in which Anna Kiriliouk, lecturer in statistics at UNamur, is a specialist. Applied to the climate, this theory enables us to better predict extreme climatic events, at a time when these are multiplying due to climate change.
