The main objective is to discover the main aspects of glycobiology and its implications in molecular biology, immunology, cell biology, bacteriology etc...
Biological functions of glycans - N- and O-glycans and their simplified representation - Introduction of the biochemistry of carbohydrate-processing enzymes - Enzymatic mechanisms of glycosidases and glycosyltransferases - Some applications of glycochemistry to immunology - Development of antiinfectious agents: the case of influenza
Oral Course with powerpoint illustrations.
The students will have to make a bibliographic research on a topic related to Glycobiology and present it, orally in the class.
The illustrations of the course and the most important publications are available in Webcampus.
