Learning outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to identify and explain the main features and key moments in the history of the Italian language; they will also be able to analyse the texts and concepts presented in class, placing them in their cultural context. 

Goals

master a general chronology of the history of the Italian language, with its main themes and key moments

-understand complex texts/speeches in Italian

-express themselves in Italian, both orally and in writing, flexibly and correctly in a variety of contexts

Content

This course offers a diachronic journey through the history of the Italian language, from its origins to the early 20th century, following a path that allows students to understand how this language has evolved over time.

Teaching methods

Interactive lecture including practical activities (30h). Active student participation is required.

Assessment method

January: written exam.

August: written exam, if unsuccessful in January.

The assessment criteria will be explained in class at the beginning of the year and will be available on Webcampus.
