Learning outcomes

This course aims to introduce and understand in depth (1) the elements of propositional and predicate logic that will be used in the development of the theoretical aspects of the courses "EIMI-B212 Databases" and "EGMI-2261 Requirements Engineering for Information Systems", (2) the tree and graph data models that will be used in the course "Datamining and Business Intelligence".

Content

This course introduces the key concepts and theoretical tools necessary for the practice of information management. It integrates discrete mathematics and information management models, concepts and techniques. It describes how to transform mathematical abstractions into operational programs, and introduces and discusses data models: tree, list set and graph. It provides an in-depth introduction to propositional and predicate logic, and presents logical concepts for the design of computer components.
