Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will be able to :

  • Define the practice of "management", its actors, its key elements
  • Define the management process, its objectives and the difficulties associated with this activity (general culture of organisational management)
  • Provide conceptual and/or technical solutions to management issues in an organisation
  • To approach management issues with a critical view: to understand which management tools are the most appropriate, to target the strengths and weaknesses of the different theories studied in the lecture
  • Adopt a human perspective on the management process and assimilate the basic concepts of ethical and responsible management

Goals

In this course, students will gain a foundational understanding of management, its key elements, and the main actors involved. They will learn about the management process, its objectives, and the challenges it presents within organizations. Through a critical lens, students will explore various management theories and tools, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, the course will emphasize ethical and responsible management, encouraging students to adopt a human-centered perspective when addressing organizational issues and proposing solutions.

Content

The Business Analyst operates in organisational and relational spaces. Understanding the fundamental dynamics is an essential condition for successfully carrying out innovative digital projects. A case study also allows the participants to confront, in sub-groups, concrete organisational problems.

  • Part 1: Introduction; Management models;
  • Part 2: Planning, Strategic Management; Decision-making
  • Part 3: Organisation (culture, structure and design); Employee motivation; Power, influence and leadership
  • Part 4: Control

Assessment method

Written examination.

This course is labeled "English friendly" meaning that all course materials are in English. However, lectures and class discussions will be in French.
