Learning outcomes

The students will learn the different types of microbial interactions at molecular and ecological levels and the methods to study these interactions.

Goals

- To discuss microbial interactions and the molecular mechanisms enable them.

- To discuss microbial ecosystems and the interactions - biotic and abiotic in those ecosystems

Content

The course consists in discussions of articles presented by the students. The content may vary depending on the selection of articles.

Table of contents

The selected articles aim to cover the following topics:

- The parasite- mutualist continuum.

- Crossfeeding.

- Metagenomics of microbial communities.

- Bacterial-fungal interactions

- Bacterial-bacteria interactions and their molecular bases

- Phage-bacteria interactions.

Assessment method

The evaluation is continuos, based on the presentation (70 %) and participation in the discussions (30 %)
