Photonics in nature: structural colouring and other optical effects in living organisms. Concepts of biomimicry and bioinspiration. Quantitative processing of colour perception.
Through a series of case studies published in the literature, discover the fundamental and practical importance of understanding the origin of various optical effects produced by natural photonic structures found in living organisms.
Reminder of the physical mechanisms of colour production. Elements of colorimetry. Personal work: case study based on research published in the literature.
The examination consists of an oral presentation of the student's personal work.
