Acquire a good understanding of public affairs practices and activities with a special emphasis on the healthcare sector.

Goals

Explain the evolutions in the PA discipline over the last three decades;

Accurately assess the legal and economic environment that companies and NGOs as policy influencers have to deal with;

Evaluate the various ethical codes of conduct and legal regulations regarding interactions between government and public affairs officials;

Explain the differences in PA strategies used by private sector companies and NGOs;

Understand the basics of how to set up a successful PA campaign

Argue business defense strategies within strongly regulated political contexts;

Analyse and apply various methods used to influence policy outputs;

Recommend the most appropriate lobby strategy in given case studies.

  • The Effective Lobbyist: what, why and how she does her job
  • Effective business defense strategies
  • Regulation, Enforcement and Ethics, around the globe

Group presentation and written examination (open questions)

The exact modalities of the evaluation are likely to be modified during the preparation of the examination schedules, depending on the practical constraints with which the faculty administration may be confronted, or in the event of illness / force majeure / encroachment with an internship, or because of the health situation related to the coronavirus.
