Learning outcomes

Study of reactivity in organic chemistry. It involves the description of the basic elements of the domain (C, H, N and O), the concepts of hybrid orbitals, chemical bonding, structure of molecules, conformers, electronic and steric effects, and relative stereochemistry absolute as well as the thermodynamics and kinetics of reactions. Mesomeric and inductive effects are introduced and the rules that predict the reactivity of molecules.

Content

Introduction to Organic Chemistry: general, alkanes, alkenes.

Assessment method

This course will be evaluated during a written exam, with several questions, lasting about 3:00.

During the year, two tests will be scheduled. The final grade will be calculated from the notes of the examination (85%) and the score in the tests (15%).
