The emphasis is on the application of the material.
The following themes will be addressed, among others: rights relating to the administration of justice, rights relating to physical freedom, rights relating to private life, freedom of worship, freedom of opinion, etc. The documentation package will confront the student with the different sources of law: judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and judgments of the Belgian high courts (Constitutional Court, Court of Cassation, Council of State), ....
Students are provided with a collection of case law decisions. During the oral course, the teacher will provide the students with reading grids that will allow them to go deeper into the subject with the help of this collection. In this way, we want to stimulate the student to work independently.
Open book examination. Sample exams are available on webcampus. Compulsory examination in January, if the course is taught in the first semester.
