Mastering scientific communication by respecting the rules of reference and publication 9. Acquire a strong capacity for information analysis, synthesis and writing

Goals

Production of a written work synthesising the different skills expected of a historian: The ability to analyse a document in depth, with a view to making the most of it. The ability to compare elements drawn from a considerable volume of information. The ability to transmit the results of research: to write them in a correct, precise and argued manner and/or to present them orally.

Content

The seminar deals with a theme of contemporary history using unpublished documentation. The sessions require preparation by each student, working in groups or individually. They deal with the chosen theme by going through the different stages of scientific research in history: problematisation, bibliographical research, heuristic approach, research into sources, organisation of the information gathered, planning of the research, oral and written communication of the results.

Assessment method

Writing of an original work of 25 to 30 pages. Continuous assessment during the course sessions.
