9. Acquire a strong ability to analyse information, summarise and write.
Production of a written work demonstrating the acquisition of the following skills: The ability to carry out an in-depth analysis of a document, with a view to making the most of it. The ability to compare elements drawn from an in-depth bibliographical survey. The construction of a relevant and coherent problem. The ability to pass on the results of research: to write them up correctly, accurately, with arguments and/or to present them orally.
The pre-seminar deals with a theme in the history of the 'revolutionary' period (1750-1815), using unpublished documentation. The sessions require preparatory work on the part of each student, working in groups or individually. They address the chosen theme by going through the various stages of scientific research in history: problematisation, bibliographical research, heuristic approach, research into sources, organisation of the information gathered, planning of the research, oral and written communication of the results.
Writing of an original paper of 15 to 20 pages. Continuous assessment during course sessions.
Bibliography distributed during the course
