Animated by a shared passion for history, literature and art, Jean and Jeannine Leclercq-Hoolans are giving future generations the benefit of a dual heritage valued at UNamur thanks to their generous bequest.
Two funds in one
Since 2022, the Leclercq-Hoolans Fund has two main components: a patronage fund, created thanks to the bequest of Jeannine Leclercq-Hoolans (1938-2020), and a collection of books, engravings, maps and documents that makes part of the couple's library accessible to scientists, students and the general public. The patronage fund is intended to finance teaching and research activities at UNamur.
Discover the documentary collection
The collection, held by the Moretus Plantin University Library (BUMP), will be progressively digitized and made available online via the Neptun portal. It reveals the collection of two discerning bibliophiles, cultivating a marked interest in rare copies (16th-20th centuries), art bindings and the great authors of French literature, and in the history of Hainaut and in particular the city of Tournai. The collection also includes a number of old engravings, maps and drawings, as well as a bundle of family photos. With the BUMP as its setting, the Fonds Leclercq-Hoolans pays tribute to the memory of its donor and her husband, and to their shared interest in the world of culture and books.
