By the end of this course, students should have acquired:

  • a mastery of theoretical knowledge;
  • the ability to apply this knowledge with discernment and critical thinking, with a view to gaining a detailed understanding of literary phenomena from various periods.

Introduce students to literary theory through a given issue.

Content

This course focuses on an issue, which varies from year to year, and examines it using different theoretical models drawn from literary studies and related disciplines (sociology of literature, sociology of culture, anthropology, etc.). Each model is examined in terms of both its contributions and its limitations.

Ex cathedra course with time for discussion and questions.

Assessment method

Oral examination.
