1. Introduction to Animal Experimentation for Experimentalists (1h - theory) • Reminder of the 3R's principle: reduction, replacement and refinement • Taxonomy 2. Animal experimentation regulations (2h - theory) • Complements in European Legislation 3. Protocol and conduct of animal experiments: (8h theory and practice) • Writing and critiquing protocols (2h theory and practice) • Reminder of the notions of pain and limit points of the experiment • Statistical analysis (6h theory and practice) 4. The assessment is based on an orally presented portfolio. The portfolio may contain different productions: 1. either a completed project application and non-technical summary 2. either a comparative study of scientific articles according to the ARRIVE method, a non-technical summary and a statistical exercise 3. either the writing of an article, a non-technical summary and a statistical exercise
