Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide theoretical, conceptual and practical tools to analyse the discourse of national and international actors on economic matters. At the end, the students should be able to :

- identify the ideological dimension of economic discourses ;

- understand how and why actors mobilise economic theories to justify their actions ;

- identify the main political issues at play related to specific economic policies ;

- establish connections between economic discourses of the past and the present ;

- use a lexicographic software to produce quantiative text analysis

Goals

The course pursues the following obectives :

- Provide theoretical tools to critically analyse the discourse of national and international actors on economic matters

- Provide practical tools (lexicographic software) to produce quantiative text analysis

Assessment method

The final mark will be based on a collective research report and individual participation.
