Goals

The main objectives of the workshop are to raise awareness of the requirements and introduce the techniques of effective writing as practised in the various communication professions.

Content

The workshop includes some lectures (theoretical and illustrated) and meetings with several professionals in the field of communication writing, but it consists mainly of writing exercises. It therefore requires a significant amount of individual work from the student.

Assessment method

During each workshop session, the student will be asked to complete a practical exercise (to be carried out during the session, for the following days or for the end of the term). The student's assessment will be based on these successive assignments. An examination is also planned during the session in order to assess the student's theoretical mastery of the subject as well as his/her ability to write on his/her own, on a given subject and within a given time. It should be noted that mastery of the French language (spelling, grammar, syntax, vocabulary, conjugation) is essential for participation in this workshop. The evaluation of each writing exercise includes an evaluation of the mastery of the language.

Sources, references and any support material

The teacher does not plan any paper-based materials for this workshop other than on an ad hoc basis. The students will learn by doing and by being in contact with professionals. The teacher will recommend one or other French language textbook so that students can assess their level and improve if necessary.
