Students will develop the following English language skills relating to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR):
The student will be able to
Understand long, complex texts in detail, whether or not they relate to his/her field, provided that he/she can reread the difficult parts.
Recognise a wide range of idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms, noting changes in register.
Follow a speech of some length, even if it is not clearly structured or if the relationships between ideas are only implicit, even on abstract or complex subjects, confirming a few details if necessary.
Write well-structured texts on complex subjects, highlighting the most salient relevant points and confirming a point of view in an elaborate way by integrating secondary arguments, justifications and relevant examples to reach an appropriate conclusion.
Gives a presentation or description of a complex subject, integrating secondary arguments and developing particular points to reach an appropriate conclusion.
Express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, with a good command of a wide range of vocabulary, enabling him/herself to bridge gaps easily using periphrases in a variety of situations.
Debate a complex problem, formulating the points raised in a precise manner.
Bring students to an excellent level of communication, enabling them to interact effectively in a variety of communication situations, particularly in the workplace.
Correct any remaining deficiencies (fluency, pronunciation, register, etc.) with particular attention to vocabulary specific to professional life.
Practical and interactive, the course will provide you with tools that will be useful in your future career:
focus on different language functions useful in business life: (introducing yourself, requesting information, negotiating, expressing disapproval, etc.). Specific vocabulary will be covered, while role-playing and improvisations will enable you to apply the concepts directly.
focus on themes linked to current issues or the professional world through a variety of activities (texts, discussions, debates, comparing points of view, etc.)
focus on job interviews and how to prepare for them
focus on the students' professional or academic project through a presentation made during the oral exam
giving a presentation in groups of three (number to be confirmed depending on the number of students in the class) on a technical subject related to your field of specialisation.

Formative assessment in the form of written and oral tasks to be completed during the year, with feedback.
FIRST SESSION
1.CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT (30%)
Continuous assessment comprises the following two activities:
- group oral presentation of a technical subject closely related to your field of study (see Vademecum for details): 15% (individual mark)
- 1 mock job interview in preparation for the oral exam will be organised on the basis of a one-to-one meeting (15') to be arranged during quadri (quadri 1 OR 2 depending on your timetable group) and will be the subject of feedback from Patrick Foissac: 15%.
The mark awarded for this part will be final and will be included as such in the mark for the second session in the event of failure in the first session.
2.ORAL EXAMINATION (70%)
The oral examination will last 30 minutes and will consist of three parts:
A presentation of a professional or academic project prepared for the oral examination (10 minutes) + interaction on the content of the presentation with the teacher (5-10 minutes)
A discussion of the different activities covered in the course: technical presentations by groups and topics suggested by the teacher (5 minutes)
a simulated job interview (based on your preparation for the year) OR a role-play based on the activities carried out around the language functions (by drawing lots).
SECOND SESSION
In the second session, students represent the activities they have not passed during the year, with the exception of the written and oral tasks carried out in
CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT (30%)
The mark for continuous assessment will be based on the following two activities:
group oral presentation on a technical subject closely related to your field of study (15%)
1 simulated job interview (15%)
The mark awarded for this part of the course is final and will be included in the mark for the second session in the event of failure in the first session.
ORAL EXAMINATION (70%)
The oral examination will last 30 minutes and will consist of three parts:
A presentation of a professional or academic project prepared for the oral exam (10 minutes) + interaction on the content of the presentation with the teacher (5-10 minutes)
